One of the more highly regarded educational outfits, the National Institute of Technology (Karnataka) in Surathkal, is located near Mangalore. Established in 1980, Mangalore University is home to some of the most talented students in India and attracts students from across the country. The University offers 22 post-graduate departments on campus, 103 affiliated colleges, and two constituent colleges. Due to its high level of prestige and its status as an accredited National Assessment and Accreditation Council four-star level institution, the University receives millions in research and design investment every year.
