GlowTouch Technologies President to Participate at Women in Technology Seminar
LOUISVILLE – September 9, 2014- GlowTouch Technologies, an award-winning IT services firm providing custom application development and technology integration services to business of all sizes, is pleased to announce Vidya Ravichandran, president of GlowTouch Technologies, will participate as a panelist at the Women in Technology seminar hosted by boice.net. GlowTouch Technologies will also sponsor the exclusive event.
The women-only seminar takes place on September 26th, from 10:30am until 2:30pm at Churchill Downs and coincides with Ladies Day at the Downs. The event features a discussion with some of the most highly respected female technology leaders in the Louisville community.
“I started GlowTouch Technologies in 2001 at the age of 29,” said Ravichandran. “Being a young female entrepreneur was challenging and I’ve faced bias within an industry predominately run by men.”
Panelists at the seminar include Jana L Godwin, IT Department Chairperson in Computer Networking Administration, Computer Networking Security and Forensics for the Sullivan College of Technology and Design; Shelly Turner, Chief Security Officer for Appriss; Kat Walsh, Region Manager, Datacenter Architecture Team for Cisco Systems; and Veena Vadgama, Vice President of Marketing from Network Instruments.
Discussion at the seminar will focus on the most critical issues facing women in the IT workforce today, including combating stereotypes in the workplace, empowering women to become leaders, creating a balance between work and life, and closing the gender gap.
“IT is one of the fastest-growing job segments out there, but women continue to be underrepresented in the field,” says Shannon Fehr, Director of Marketing for boice.net. “Roughly one quarter of all technology jobs are held by women, and of those, only 28 percent are leadership positions. It’s time to address the issue, and start change here locally.”
